Instructor: Pamela G.
Dogs of all ages welcome.

This obedience brush-up session will cover the essential behaviors required for AKC Novice Obedience. Even if you don’t plan on competing, these skills will be beneficial for everyday activities like walks in the park or around your neighborhood. The practice session is also valuable for those interested in taking the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test or pursuing therapy work with their dog.

  • Mastery of basic obedience skills (sit, down, brief stay, on-leash come, walk on loose leash, sit to accept petting, polite behavior around other dogs).
  • Good companion skills, such as coming when called, standing for an examination, staying in both a “sit” and “down” position with a group of other dogs, and heeling both on- and off-leash*.

*Off-leash work is not required and will only be done by dogs that are reliable and won’t try to interact with the other dogs. Comfort and safety for all the dogs present is most important.
