Training – Finding the right fit for your dog.
Our dogs learn throughout their lives and with every interaction they have whether it’s with people, other dogs or anything else in their environment.
Observing what’s important to your dog, what they enjoy doing and how they learn will help you to teach them the important skills they need to succeed. It’s also important to know and understand your dog’s breed and breed traits. This knowledge will help you decide what job, sport or activity is best suited for your individual dog.
People don’t learn everything they need to know in elementary school so please don’t expect your dog to be a scholar after 1 or 2 6-week courses. It takes practice, patience and time for your dog to learn what you need your dog to know. Working at their pace and setting them up so they can make the correct choices will keep them on the right path.
All About Dogs takes a positive approach to training which makes it fun for you and your dog. We focus on rewarding good choices and behavior instead of correcting when your dog makes a mistake. Learning is a change in behavior, and it will take time.
All About Dogs understands that fitting training into your already busy lives can be a challenge, so we offer a variety of training option and opportunities.
We offer classes of different lengths including, individual sessions and 3-, 4- or 6-week sessions to fit most schedules and lifestyles.

Group Training Classes
Obedience Skills
We offer group training classes for adult dogs and puppies. Our training program consists of 3 levels which include all the basic obedience cues that will benefit your dog in their day-to-day life. These basic skills meet the requirements of the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. This is a great way to start!
Specialty Skills
Sometimes our dogs need a bit more help with a particular behavior. Some dogs have trouble keeping all four feet on the floor while others are reactive when they get frustrated or scared when seeing other dogs or people.
Confidence and Fun
Most dogs enjoy learning new things. Dogs can build confidence by interacting with different surfaces and props. This confidence can spill into other areas where they feel unsure. These fun based activities can also help build a love for learning and a bond of trust between dog and owner.
Private Training
Family training at our facility, in your home or at a neutral location is also available. This is helpful for people and dogs who have specific needs or whose schedules require flexibility. These private sessions can be customized for each individual, covering the necessary behaviors and at a pace that is comfortable for the dog and owner. Private sessions can be purchased by the session or in discounted packages of 4- 1-hour sessions or 8- 30-minute sessions.
Day training sessions can be scheduled during boarding or daysit stays. These sessions are scheduled by appointment with a specific trainer so that your dog can receive consistent lessons on the behaviors required. Owners receive a typed report card of what was covered in the session.
Additional Training Opportunities
Many of the dogs that either board for extended periods or stay for the day while their owners are at work benefit from extra activity. Our enrichment sessions are very popular! These sessions can include a variety of activities from tunnels, low jumps and physical props such as steps and fitbones that can build confidence and challenge the dog physically. Other activities include puzzle games and teaching the dog tricks such as spins, leg weaves or playing a musical toy. These sessions are available in 15- and 30-minute increments. For most dogs 15 minutes are enough. These sessions can really get the dogs thinking and can be very tiring.
For dogs that have energy to burn we offer treadmill training. It can take several sessions for dogs to get comfortable first getting on the treadmill then learning how to walk safely while it is in motion. This is a great option if you have a treadmill at home and need a way to exercise your dog during inclement weather or if your dog finds being out around other dogs and people uncomfortable and stressful. These sessions are scheduled by appointment with a trainer that has experience teaching this skill to a variety of dogs.
Let All About Dogs help your dog be the best she can be!
